FAQ & Info

  • The chalk walk will be an event where K-12th grade RSA students, other local school, artists and other community members will gather to draw with chalk on the sidewalks downtown. Each artist will be assigned to a square where they will complete a drawing. Artists will compete by age range/grade levels to win prizes.

  • Local community members of all ages are welcome to attend the event on Saturday and purchase a square. Local artists will be contacted and asked to draw in the competition as well.

    RSA students will prepare in advance a sketch of a chalk drawing in their art classroom during the school week.  Students will be encouraged to attend on Saturday May, 9th to compete in the competition. 

  • Yes!

  • Beginning on Saturday morning, artists will begin drawing their designs. Only washable chalk is permitted.  All designs will need to be completed by 5:00pm when judging takes place.  There will be prizes awarded by age range/ grade level and adults.

    • Chalk only no paint fixatives or sealers

    • Family Friendly Imagery

    • Separate divisions (K-2, 3-5th, 6-8th, high school, adult/artist

    • No logos unless sponsored business

  • On sidewalk, starting at Whistlestop Park, Market Street, Butte and Yuba

  • Start time 10:00 am 

    End Time  5:00 pm

    Judging: 5:30p.m

    Ceremony and Awards: 6:00 pm
